Definition of mesh size

browse time data update:2020-10-29

(See overview for a simple definition) The larger the mesh size, the finer the material particle size; The smaller the mesh size is, the larger the material size is.

Screen size is the size of the mesh through which the particles can pass through the screen, expressed in terms of the number of mesh in a screen one inch (25.4mm) wide, and thus called mesh size.

The specifications of the standard sieve vary from country to country, the commonly used Taylor system is the number of holes per inch, called mesh.

For example, 100 sieves represent 100 holes per inch of screen mesh.

The mesh size corresponds to the standard mesh size

A plus or minus sign before the mesh indicates whether the mesh can be missed.

A negative number indicates the mesh that can leak through the mesh, that is, the particle size is smaller than the mesh size;

A positive number indicates that the mesh cannot be missed, that is, the particle size is larger than the mesh size.

For example, the size of particles is -100 mesh ~+200 mesh, which means that these particles can leak through 100 mesh holes but cannot leak through 200 mesh. When screening such mesh size particles, those with large mesh (200) should be placed under the screen with small mesh (100), while those with large mesh (200) should be left behind in the screen with large mesh (200).
